Castle Country!

Castle Country!

I am in Utah. Pedaling, of course.

The next big Extra Mile America event is in Denver...but I have a whole lot of territory and mountains to cover before I get there by August 17.

Right now, I am in Castle Country. From a distance, the rugged cliff/mountains that I am riding through look like castles sitting on hills. Nature has provided some very imaginative visuals to make my pedaling easier.

It is also dinosaur country. I passed a dinosaur quarry yesterday where I imagined the great discoveries still being found. As I pedaled, I would imagine just how challenging it might have been to outrun a dinosaur on my bike. My legs are getting stronger, but I just don't think they would quite match a hungry T-rex from the past.

The imagined dinosaurs from another time remind me of the shortness of life. The castle cliffs remind me that things can last longer than a lifetime. Together, they both inspire me to make my life count...and leave my own footprint fossils for others to see long after I am gone.
