Denver II

Denver was loaded with really quality and inspiring people. Yesterday, I listed a few of those individuals. Today, here's a few more.

"Challenge Denver" is a program introduced to middle and high school students that encourages students to become positive forces in their schools. Tracey Brummett and Kinga Misiarz passionately shared what they are doing with their forward thinking program and the ideas they have for the future.

The leader of Mount St. Vincent Home, a 126-year-old Denver cornerstone, is Bill Roth. The Home, which provides services and programs for residents up to the eighth grade who are coping with emotional and behavioral problems, continues to look into cutting edge ways to make a difference in the lives of its residents.

Fred Patterson started the Partners and Learners (PALS) tutoring program at one of Denver Public Schools' highest need schools. PALS volunteers meet with a student for weekly tutoring sessions  to teach them that high expectations, sacrifice, hard work and believing in yourself will create success.

Thom Cassidy is a veteran who has come home to do two things: one, help other vets find jobs, and two, promote a green economy. Through Veterans Green Jobs, Thom is making a huge difference on both fronts.

Brad and Libby Birky decided to give up secure computer and teaching jobs, cash in their 401K's, and start the So All May Eat (SAME) Cafe. The SAME Cafe doesn't have set prices. Patrons can donate however much they can, and if a patron does not have enough money, they are encouraged to volunteer an hour of their time.

All cutting-edge thinkers; all making their mark on Denver.

And now, on me.
